Education
I've had an eclectic education but have always pursued knowledge of and ability in language and storytelling.
MA in cognitive semiotics; Aarhus University in Aarhus, Denmark
This Master’s degree is heavily interdisciplinary, combining linguistics, neuroscience, psychology, and other fields. At its core, it is a study in and analysis of human meaning-making—how we create and perceive meaning, through language, image, text, art, and speech. Areas of study include basic neuroscience, text processing, cognitive aesthetics, and social cognition. I did my thesis concerning the phenomenon of immersion, studying the physiological indications of narrative immersion in film.
BA in linguistics with editing minor (magazine emphasis); Honors graduate; BYU in Utah, USA.
My Linguistics degree provided me with a background in both practical and theoretical applications in linguistics, including language form and meaning. Through my minor in editing, I gained in-depth expertise in grammar, syntax, style guides, and publication, along with practical experience in magazine production and publication.

Honors program graduate; BYU
Back in the old days (or, at least a few years ago) completing the BYU Honors program involved more than getting good grades or doing a thesis. At BYU, being an Honors graduate meant maintaining a high GPA, putting together an extensive portfolio of cultural analysis over the period of three years, taking 12 credits (4-5 classes) of Honors courses, and writing/defending an independent thesis -- in this case, launching and editing a local arts and culture magazine called The Grid.
